I have 3 females all about a year old on their own. I also have a male and I am building a big place for him. Would it be ok to put 3 females in to the new place to breed and then put them back in there own again?
Answer:
When combining male and female chinchillas you will have much better success if you combine them in the cage of the male. Female chinchillas are more territorial, so they may be hostile if a strange chinchilla enters their domain. The girls may always be on their own again - breeders do this regularly.
Just member that, just like humans, chinchillas can only breed successfully at certain times of the month!
